Briefing on Export Analysis of China's Stationery Industry, Jan-June 2023

According to customs data, in June 2023, China's total import and export value of 500.1 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 10.1%. Among them, the export of 285.32 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 12.4%.From January to June 2023, the national stationery industry (statistical calibre: 125 stationery HS code) completed a total of 31.938 billion U.S. dollars of export value, a slight increase of 0.64% year-on-year.

In June 2023, China's sporting goods exports 4.524 billion U.S. dollars, down 9.03%, down 25.04% year-on-year, the rate of decline has further expanded, in the case of a single month's export amount of significant shrinkage, January-July the national sporting goods industry cumulative export value will enter a negative growth stage.

From January to June 2023, the growth rate of cumulative export value of stationery and sporting goods sub-industries diverged. Among them, the cumulative export value of stationery and office supplies was USD 19.53 billion, up 14.53% year-on-year, and the growth rate continued to fall; the cumulative export value of sporting goods was USD 11.558 billion, down 16% year-on-year, and the rate of decline further expanded; the cumulative export value of amusement equipment was USD 850 million, down 7.92% year-on-year, and the rate of decline further expanded.

Main Export Markets for Stationery and Sporting Goods, January-June 2023

ASEAN is still the fastest-growing region for China's export of stationery and sporting goods.

China's sporting goods exports to the ASEAN region of 4.656 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 33.04%; exports to the other member states of the RCEP 8.161 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 15.01%; to the "Belt and Road" along the country's exports of 14.241 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 24.71%.

Exports to North America, the European Union region continued to decline year-on-year, exports of $ 7.848 billion, $ 5.17 billion, down 19.33 per cent, 17.07 per cent, respectively, year-on-year.

Exports of stationery and sporting goods by continent, January-June 2023

China's exports of sporting goods to the Asian region of 11.348 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 21.21 per cent year-on-year.

To Europe, North America exports continued to decline year-on-year, of which, China's exports to the European region of 7.498 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 9.98 per cent, exports to North America 7.848 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 19.34 per cent.

Exports to Latin America, Africa, Oceania continue to maintain the growth trend year-on-year, exports were 2.309 billion U.S. dollars, 1.735 billion U.S. dollars, 1.199 billion U.S. dollars, year-on-year growth of 21.99 per cent, 27.73 per cent, 12.95 per cent, respectively.
